Children's Parties from Maffoolish

Age range for parties: 4-adult.
Maffoolish will normally come to a children's party for 2 hours. His extensive experience of performing and working with children (including special needs) means that he is able to tailor his entertainment to different age groups.
4-6 year olds
Parties for 4-6 year olds are structured like this:
- A 45 minute games session with Maffoolish's own highly original and imaginative games
- Then it's back to you for lunch or tea, after which
- A 45 minute show of interactive story telling show involving clowning, juggling, escapology and optional fire eating

7 year olds upwards
Parties for 7 years upwards are structured like this:
- a 45 minute circus skills workshop where everyone has a go at lots of circus tricks
- Break for lunch or tea
- extreme circus show, mentioned in the review below, including escapology, walking on broken glass, bed of nails and fire eating and breathing.

We were daunted by the prospect of our son’s seventh birthday party. He and his friends proclaimed themselves bored of the usual round of indoor playcentre, leisure centre or zoo parties and with this age group, cynicism and silly behaviour can quickly turn into mob rule. To make matters worse, our party booking at our chosen place, made five weeks prior to the great day, somehow went awry and the invitations still hadn’t turned up ten days before the party. Then another child in his class announced a party on the same day, at the same time. Horrors! What to do?
After a perusal of Families Online, I phoned the Juggling John party agency. Clare—who runs the business in SW19 with her partner, ‘Juggling John’ Hayns—has a total of 40 entertainers on the books. She recommended Maffoolish and his ‘Extreme Circus’ show, amazingly still free at this late date and perfect for 6-8 year olds. The cost was a bit over my budget but I managed to persuade a friend, whose son turns eight soon, to share the party.
On the day we had a posse of fifteen children, mostly boys, aged between five and nine. Maffoolish turned up promptly and after a quick confab, decided to perform in the garden, although he can adapt the show and operate indoors if necessary. I’m sorry to say the children gave Maffoolish a slightly rough ride to begin with, but he swiftly deflected the heckling by inviting them to truss him up and made a great show of fastening the chains with a padlock. The sight of their faces as he escaped the shackles with one final twist of his arm was absolutely priceless. A reverent hush descended and we were all spellbound for the next hour.
Maffoolish performed fire eating and juggling, walked on broken glass and lay on a bed of nails, involving the children as helpers at every stage. For an extra £40 we could have extended the entertainment to include a 40-minute circus skills workshop but we weren’t sure if the mums would thank us, so we gave it a miss… All in all, it was a truly superb and stress-free party and I would definitely recommend Maffoolish and the agency to anyone. "
